[Revue Presse] Construction Cayola | Construction site waste: a solution for every need

Benoit Crépin discusses the management of waste from construction sites and existing solutions for recycling it. With this in mind, Guillaume Paradis, Director of the Environment Department, spoke to him for Construction Cayola.

ECT's circular economy model

With over 15 million tonnes of excavated soil managed each year, Guillaume Paradis explains how ECT recovers this material. He reminds us that the reuse of construction site soil is an opportunity for regional development. Of all these achievements, ECT’s historic site in Villeneuve-sous-Dammartin is the most emblematic, with the Oeil du Ciel land art work visible from the sky.

In this interview, Guillaume presents ECT’s hydrocarbon soil treatment center. This site, which is unique in France because it is completely enclosed, uses a biological process to decontaminate the soil.

The article concludes that the ECT model aims to extend beyond the Paris region. ECT has opened a regional branch in Hauts-de-France, following the opening of a first site in Lens: a former industrial wasteland transformed into an urban forest is taking shape. A project carried out in partnership with the EPF Hauts de France, the City of Lens and the CALL.

Extract from the article

“From finishing materials to demolition rubble and excavated earth, waste from the building and civil engineering sector represents not only a boon for the circular economy, but also a great opportunity for decarbonization. A wide range of solutions are emerging for the appropriate recovery of each category of waste produced by French construction sites”.
