This quarterly meeting, orchestrated by LPO France, brought together 148 participants, 17 speakers and 84 structures, all committed to promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/ect.komk.fr\/en\/definitions\/biodiversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">biodiversity<\/a> in urban environments.<\/p>\n<p>Guillaume Lemoine, ECT&#8217;s biodiversity referent, shared his experience of transforming the Van Pelt <a href=\"https:\/\/ect.komk.fr\/en\/definitions\/brownfield-redevelopment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">industrial wasteland<\/a> in Lens into an urban forest. This project was carried out in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epf-hdf.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EPF des Hauts-de-France<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/villedelens.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">City of Lens<\/a>. The intervention illustrated how a brownfield site can become a unique opportunity for local residents and biodiversity.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d72c888 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"d72c888\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c83f74b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c83f74b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sharing experience on the renaturation and planting of an urban forest<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-70d444e e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"70d444e\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a83e6f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4a83e6f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Asked about the redevelopment of the Van Pelt industrial wasteland, Guillaume Lemoine demonstrated how the ECT model for reclaiming inert soil from construction sites can help. The absence of cost to the community is coupled with strong ecological expertise. This forum for sharing knowledge, exchanging best practices and providing feedback aims to make living organisms the common thread running through urban development, by raising awareness and providing concrete solutions.<\/p><p>The day was held in the dual context of the thematic year of the tree, which the <a href=\"https:\/\/ect.komk.fr\/en\/ect-group\/partnership-and-sponsorship\/lpo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LPO<\/a> will be honoring in 2024, and the revision of the National Urban Nature Plan, with which the LPO is associated.
